Hi, I’m Carinne.

I’m a divorce lawyer who helps women become legally wise.

My divorce rocked my world.  I married young. We started a family and had two daughters who were born at home. I wholeheartedly dove into being a SAHM and home-schooling my kids. My daughters were 4 and 6 when life as we all knew it ended. My husband left. I had no warning, no money, and no plan. Heart thumping panic doesn’t even begin to describe those first few weeks, that eventually gave way to months of grief and upheaval as our lives were rearranged personally and legally.

I made many mistakes along the way, like doing my own divorce as a non-lawyer. You can read more about my regrets in my free resource “If I Got Divorced Today 10 Things I’d Do Differently.

As the ink on the divorce papers dried, I figured out my new path.  I dusted myself off and went to law school to help women like you and me. I took my kids to class with me in a pinch.  At night I put them to bed and worked with my study group at our dining room table past midnight. Not gonna lie, it was hard. In my first semester, my oldest was hospitalized and diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I learned how to give her shots and calculate her carbs at every meal.  I toughed it out and made it to graduation.

After I passed the bar exam, I followed bad advice and opened a typical family law practice. I soon realized this wasn’t me. I wanted to work with clients personally, not pass them off to a team of paralegals. I didn’t want to make clients find a babysitter to come sit in a stale office under the glare of fluorescent lights just to talk to me.

Doing shadow work in tandem with a visualization practice, I course corrected and founded the law firm I would have wanted on my divorce journey and Wise Women Law was born.

For over a decade since I have worked one-on-one with women and men like you who want a different experience of working with a lawyer. I respect and care for my clients, because I was once sitting on the other side of the desk.  If you want to get clarity, protect your kids, safeguard your assets, file strong papers in court and avoid making costly financial mistakes that rob your future - I am here for you.

I transformed a lot along my journey, just like you will. One of the most important lessons I want to leave you with is that your self-care is not a luxury right now, it is essential. You are going through it! I developed a chronic illness from the stress of my divorce. I don’t want that to happen to you.  Discover the practices that enrich my self-care in my weekly newsletter. Each takes less than 10 minutes a day. Remember, you are worth it!
